It’s time to transform your family connection with these critical tips. Three simple steps to grow as a family

The TYRO Difference

Families are the heartbeat of every community. When they’re healthy, resilient, and united, entire communities flourish. But when they’re broken, strained, or disconnected, the ripple effects can last for generations. Today, families face unprecedented challenges. From financial instability and strained relationships to the lingering effects of incarceration, trauma, and distrust. Too often, programs focus only on the individual, leaving the rest of the family to navigate change on their own. This creates a gap, one where transformation can falter before it ever takes root.

At TYRO, we believe real and lasting change happens when the entire family is equipped to grow together. That’s why our approach doesn’t just inspire individuals—it strengthens the bonds that make families thrive. What follows isn’t just theory—it’s the tested, proven, and life-changing process we’ve seen work time and again to restore hope, rebuild trust, and create legacies of honor.

Character Programs

With so many programs to choose from, how do you know which one will bring the biggest return for your investment?

As we developed TYRO, we began by focusing on the one taking the program. We knew that real change starts from within. So, we set out to impact hearts and minds by providing a blueprint for overcoming life’s challenges and living with purpose and integrity. The outcomes were incredible. We saw men and women begin to dream again, to hope for their future, and to take concrete steps toward building it.

With that momentum in mind, we asked ourselves an important question: What if we could multiply this transformation by reaching beyond the individual? We began discovering new ways to expand what participants were learning in the classroom and incorporate TYRO principles into their entire family.

We learned that in order for lasting change to take root, the whole family needs to be on board. Our own personal journey, overcoming incarceration, poverty, infidelity, suffering, and so much more, taught us that serving only one family member and hoping something would change was not enough. Families thrive or struggle together, and the power of united growth cannot be overstated.

TYRO Program Approach

After years of evaluations, surveys, and third-party studies, we created the TYRO Family Reunification Program. This unique approach brings the entire family together, equipping them with practical skills, communication tools, and proven strategies to overcome the toughest challenges. It’s not just about surviving—it’s about rebuilding trust, restoring relationships, and creating a legacy of honor that lasts for generations.

Here are three things you could do right now to begin transforming your family’s legacy and begin living with purpose:

1. Our Families Values

As a family, list out the top 10 values you care about as individuals. I.e. trust, hard worker, loving, quality time with family. Compare lists and then narrow your lists to the top 3 items. Combine all three items to a master list of family values. Hang this somewhere you will see it everyday as a reminder of what you stand for.

2. Appreciation message

Don’t underestimate the importance of appreciation or affirmations. Write a note, send a text, or say something to each family member everyday. I.e. I really appreciate that you put your dishes in the sink after rinsing them off.

3. HUG for 5-20 seconds

Hugging loved ones has an astonishing impact on their mental health, heart, and even boosts their immune system. Take time to hug family members at least 5 seconds EVERYDAY.

Reflecting on and practicing these three simple things in your family will foster a new culture and environment of love, security, and give energy to face the day.
