COVID-19 continues to be a major talking point today.
While many places have reopened, some jobs continue to keep their workers at home to work remotely. As the world is adjusting to the novel virus, employers everywhere are learning new ways to navigate during COVID along with those who are trying to find a job. Many people have lost their jobs or have had difficulty trying to find a new job during this pandemic. However, there is still plenty of hope! Here are some quick tips on finding a job during COVID.
Be Flexible:
In seasons such as COVID, job seekers do not always have the luxury of being picky. Be willing to step outside of your comfort zone with your job search. The job may even just be temporary work and that’s okay too! Right now, work is work and brining home any sort of a paycheck can be helpful.
Get Comfortable at Home:
Due to most states restrictions, some organizations have kept their workers at home to do their job remotely. Get comfortable with working remotely or from home. Set up a private space for work that is distraction-free. Also, be able to demonstrate to potential employers that you’re able to be just as productive at home as you are on site.
Adapt your Resume:
Similar to getting comfortable at home, your resume may need to be modified. Adapting your resume to highlight your ability to work remotely may help separate you from the crowd. You can talk about specific video call services that you’re comfortable using, your ability to work with others online, familiarity with document sharing services (such as google docs), time management, etc.
Learn or Brush up on Skills:
There are plenty of online courses or programs you can take to help you brush up on your skills. Simply doing some research and watching YouTube videos may help you learn new or boost current skills you have. Job searching during COVID may take some time, so instead of strictly just applying for jobs, take some time to learn new skills or boost current ones. This can be especially helpful if you’re trying to get into a new field.
At the end of the day, most job seekers don’t find their dream job on their fist try. Your personal journey of professional development may take time. Just know that You’ll have to be patient as you can expect some delays in the hiring process from employers. This season is your opportunity to use that time to help you stand out even more?
