Receiving Hand-Written Letters

Letters

We live in the age of technology. It’s so easy to just pick up your phone and shoot a quick text message or call someone. While communicating in any way is always a good feeling, receiving hand-written letters from someone carries a special meaning. So what are the benefits of receiving a hand-written letter?

Letters help you feel the love...

When we receive a letter, there’s always a special feeling attached to it. Think about when you were a child and you got a letter in the mail. Remember how awesome that feeling was? Receiving letters makes us feel loved because you can tell there was thought put into the letter. Hand-written letters go beyond the screen to offer a much more sentimental form of communication.

Letters change the pace...

We often fall victim to the same old routine. Modern relations typically involve a lot of screen time these days. Whether it’s texting on and off throughout the day, a phone call every night or using the internet to have a video call. While there’s nothing wrong with communicating these ways, breaking the routine sometimes can come as a welcomed surprise to your loved one. When they receive a hand-written letter from you, it shows that you’re willing to be a little spontaneous and go the extra mile to show your affection.

You can save the feeling for later...

One of the best benefits of receiving a hand-written letter is what you can do with it after. Obviously, a good place to start is with a reply. But after that, you save that letter and read it over, time and time again. It can be something as simple as putting it in a safe place to read for days when you’re feeling a little down. You can frame it so you can read it every time you walk by it.

There is less urgency...

The best part about receiving hand-written letters, outside of the warm feeling you get from them, is that they are less urgent. They don’t require a reply right away. There really isn’t a character limit so to speak. They let you be as thoughtful and creative as possible when replying because you have more time and space to get all of your feelings out there.
