How gratitude can change your world
I know this is a hard season to face with your husband in prison. The pain of his absence is more intense; his presence more pronounced when everyone is gathering together to celebrate Thanksgiving. It might not be obvious to you, but you have so much to be thankful for.
Thankfulness is a by-product of a healthy, happy life. Although your husband may be in prison, you still have the opportunity to live a full and joyful life. It is a choice. We can let our circumstances define us, or we can define our circumstances. In order to define our life in a healthy way, we must change our perspective. Gratefulness, or thankfulness is a major part of changing our world view.
You are among the strongest and bravest.
If you continue this journey as a victim, you will miss out on all you were destined to become. When you take control of your destiny, you can overcome anything as you walk out your dreams, and live out your purpose. I don’t know which end of the spectrum you are sitting today, but what I do know is that your path is not easy. Only the strongest and bravest make it through this test. If you are here, you are among the strongest and bravest.
I am thankful for your courage, perseverance, and grit. You are a change-agent and you are a trail blazer. Your life will stand as an encouragement and challenge to those coming behind you. As you fight for your family, you are inspiring others to keep fighting for theirs. Today is another battle you will win. You are a warrior.
Make a list of what you are thankful for
In spite of the challenges in front of you, and the craziness of the holiday season, I urge you to take time today (and every day) to make a list of the things you are thankful for. Today, when I think of what I am grateful for, I am thinking about you—about what you stand for, what you deal with every day, and what you are facing today.
What are you thankful for? I am really asking you. Leave a comment and tell me what you are most thankful for in your life. We are all in this together. Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!
I am rooting for you!
