Ways to Challenge Yourself

Challenge

In life, it’s common to seek comfortability. As a matter of fact, it’s encouraged. Now it may sound a little crazy to hear, but there can be problems with being too comfortable. What we’re talking about is when you get so comfortable that you stop challenging yourself. It’s incredibly important to challenge yourself, especially when you’re feeling comfortable. It will allow you to continue to grow and constantly improve yourself, even when you don’t feel like you need to. The following paragraphs are going to discuss great ways for you to keep challenging yourself.

Learn something new:

This is easily the best way to challenge yourself because you’re learning something entirely new. It can be things like a new language, new hobby, new recipe, new skill, and so on. Learning something new challenges your brain because it forces your brain to think more than doing something you already know how to do. You may fail a couple times and that’s okay. It’s important to understand that failure is what helps make success. There are always lessons to be learned in failure, just like there are always new things you can attempt to learn.

Challenge

Face your fears:

A lot of people don’t like to hear this, but another great way to challenge yourself is to face your fears. Your fears are nothing more than barriers that are holding you back. Maybe it’s speaking in public, heights, talking to someone you don’t know, exercising in public, etc. It’s important to defeat your fears so they don’t have any control over you. Jot down some of your biggest fears in life, no matter what they are, and practice doing the very thing you’re scared of. Try doing it daily and eventually, you’ll turn that fear into a strength.

Read a new book:

This can go along with learning something new, but reading is excellent when it comes to making a challenge for yourself. There are so many informational books out there or even fictional books that can challenge you. Maybe you’re reading about a particular part of history, event, or person. Maybe it’s a fictional book that you can learn some new words from. It could even just flat out be a book that’s meant to teach you about a new skill or hobby. All of these are great ways to challenge yourself through reading.

Create goals:

We can’t talk enough about the importance of goals in life. Creating goals gives you something to work towards every day. The best kind of goals are ones that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based. This means they’re specific and relatable to you, but can be measured and achieve within a timeline you set. Set time aside every day to work towards your goals and don’t go to bed till you’ve made some sort of progress on it. A little bit of progress every day goes a long way. There is a special kind of fulfillment from achieving your goals, which is why it’s so important to have them. Make a list of your long-term goals, then develop a plan that has milestones and objectives within the goal that you can do daily to get closer to reaching it.

Wake up earlier:

Unless you’re already waking up incredibly early in the morning, this is an excellent way to challenge yourself. Waking up earlier gives you more time in the day to accomplish things you want to do. Many people love to sleep in when they can, but are always so amazed but how much time is in a day when they wake up earlier. Waking up early is a good habit to make because you will start to have more time to delegate to your goals. Who knows, you may catch a beautiful sunrise in the process.
